My client is a growing Australian IT consulting business who have made a big impact in the Business Intelligence space. Due to continuous growth and they are looking to add an Accounts Assistant with Xero Accounting Software experience to the business on a part-time basis for 2019. This is a high energy & busy environment, so we're looking for someone to compliment this team.
The Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller you will be responsible for:
General accounts receivable functions
- Prepare and submit customer invoices from timesheet entries
- Enter customer payments
- Monitor customer accounts for outstanding invoices and follows up with the customer for payment
- Send monthly statements to customers for outstanding invoices
General accounts payable functions
- Create and maintain vendor files
- Check, verify and enter invoices
- Review and confirm employee expenses, including account allocations and GST
- Prepare payments to vendors and employees
General payroll functions
- Review employee timesheets
- Prepare payroll monthly and distribute payslips
- Reconcile employee leave and overtime from timesheet system to Xero
- Lodge and pay PAYG withholding monthly
- Lodge and pay superannuation quarterly
General support functions
- Assist in month end reporting procedures
- Perform all necessary bank and other reconciliations
- Maintain petty cash
- Liaise with the external accountant to prepare and lodge BAS quarterly
- Assist with employee expenses
- Perform filing and general administrative tasks
- Liaise with other departments/customers/vendors
Preferred Experience
- Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping experience
- Relevant bookkeeping qualifications or working towards accounting/business degree
- Xero Accounting and Payroll experience essential
- Advanced MS Office including advanced Excel skills
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting and bookkeeping principles and procedures
- Excellence in provision of services to all stakeholders
- Able to meet conflicting deadlines, for example, month-end, superannuation and pay dates
- Accuracy of data and attention to detail
- Able to work autonomously and use initiative
- Clear, open, honest and timely communication
- Attention to detail
The role is ideally 4 days a week to start with, with the hours flexible to suit your work/life balance.
